Housing and Urban Design (Affordability) Dr Lee-Anne Khor
Lee-Anne is a member of the Monash Urban Lab, where she works with academic, industry and government partners to develop design models for more affordable, sustainable housing and urban precincts. Her research focuses on the transformation of the established city and seeks to develop integrative spatial strategies that better respond to contemporary social and environmental needs. Lee-Anne’s PhD, for example, examined new design possibilities for small-scale housing infill in Melbourne’s middle suburbs, offering insights for strategic policy and future development processes.
More recently, she has been examining the morphology of suburban industrial centres with colleagues in the Departments of Economics and Urban History to inform the impending shifts towards advanced manufacturing and the development of urban innovation precincts in these contexts.
Lee-Anne has taught architectural design and communication for the last 15 years and, prior to joining the Urban Lab, gained her professional registration working on a range of education, civic and residential projects.
