UoM Advanced Protective Technologies for Engineering Structures Group

The multidisciplinary research expertise of the Advanced Protective Technologies for Engineering Structures Group led by Prof. Tuan Ngo include: Prefabricated modular buildings and off-site construction; Computational design; Extreme loadings: Blast, impact fire; Lightweight and high strength concrete; and, Structural and energy optimisation using AI.

Facilities: The Structural Laboratory at the University of Melbourne houses state-of-the-art testing equipment, including: MTS structural testing system; MTS environmental chamber; Tecnotest compressive testing machine; Laser transducers; ARAMIS digital image correlation; MicroCT scanning of concrete; Commercial finite element and energy analysis software.
