QUT BIM Digital Twin Group

Members of the BIM/Digital Twin group at QUT have been involved in the definition of standards for the representation of built environments for nearly 30 years, the testing of proposed standards through the development of proof-of-concept software, and the subsequent development of prototype and commercial software. The range of effort goes from early design/detailed design, construction, operation/FM, through to recycling. It also covers a wide range of disciplines – architectural, engineering, cost engineering, construction and operation.

Facilities: The BIM/Digital Twin group consists of domain experts and software engineers who collaborate in the development and/or use of software tools to support building processes. The major focus in this area is on how to represent multiple “domain views” of consistent information for multi-disciplinary users across the building lifecycle. Generic software services that support multiple analyses can also be developed, i.e. modelling underlying geometry and topology.
