Monash XYX Lab

XYX Lab – Gender + Space – is a team of specialist design researchers exploring gender-sensitive design practices in cities. The way that gender affects needs and experiences in these areas is generally poorly understood by those who determine how places are designed, developed, governed and maintained. Through our applied research, we bring together planners, policy makers, local community, government and stakeholders to make tangible the experiences of underrepresented communities in urban space and planning.

Facilities: Based at Monash Art, Design and Architecture, XYX Lab has access to a range of workshops and studios for design, including the Digital Fabrication workshop and iHUB – a nationally networked digital infrastructure platform for built environment research, synthesis and engagement.
