Monash Prof. Raman Singh, Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering

Prof. Singh has specific expertise in the mechanistic understanding of chemical degradation of fibres and polymer matrix of fibre-reinforced polymers (FRPs) and their role in degradation in mechanical properties of FRPs in civil engineering applications. His specific expertise in such degradation is due to an aggressive environment that exists in an advanced civil engineering structure (viz., sea water sea sand concrete), which is a relatively novel and less explored research topic. He has developed expertise on this niche topic through extensive research in a short time.

Facilities: Extensive facilities for characterisation of chemical degradation of fibres and polymer matrix of fibre-reinforced polymers (FRPs), and mechanical testing of FRPs exposed to environment causing chemical degradation.
