Monash Department of Architecture

Monash Architecture and Urban Planning produce applied research solutions to real-world challenges. Through collaboration with local government, communities and industry, their research unlocks the possibilities of rapidly changing technologies and alternative financial models, and develops systematised and integrated approaches to design and planning processes. Areas of expertise include: affordable and sustainable housing, adaptive re-use of existing buildings, water sensitive design, precinct-level urban infrastructure and revitalisation, and affordable infill development, post-industrial development and infrastructure.

Facilities: Research infrastructure includes the iHub, a nationally networked digital infrastructure platform for built environment research, synthesis and engagement. This encourages decision-making in the planning, design, construction and monitoring of Australia’s rapidly growing metropolitan regions.
