Richard Nero

Richard is a current PhD candidate in the Infrastructure Engineering department at the University of Melbourne. He has 4 years of industry experience working as a structural engineer across a range of residential, office and retail high-rise projects in the CBD. His research focus is on developing environmentally sustainable building materials and systems for the construction sector to help designers create better buildings with superior sustainability credentials. Value-adding to our local Australian plantation timbers is a key part of this, with research conducted by Richard indicating the potential for pulp timbers to be used in high-value mass timber products.

As part of the Building 4.0 CRC Richard hopes to continue working towards creating a wider range of tools and products to facilitate lower embodied carbon construction.
