Warren is the Deputy Head and Director of Education of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University. He is an expert on recyclability, standards and biomass derived nanomaterials.

His qualifications include a BSc (Hons) (Physics), PhD (Physics).  After completing his PhD, he undertook postdoctoral work at the Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada working at the Pulp and Paper Centre, University of British Columbia. He joined Monash University in 1996.
