Nghia Phuc Tran
Nghia is a recipient of the highly competitive Melbourne Research Scholarship (MRS) and B40CRC PhD Scholarship. He also works as a Research Assistant at the Department of Infrastructure Engineering, University of Melbourne.
He holds his B.Eng (Hons) and M.Eng degrees in Civil Engineering. He has received many honours, awards and scholarships for excellent academic achievement during his study journey, namely the prestigious University Medal, Valedictorian and Dean Awards.
Nghia has a solid technical background with sound knowledge and interests in materials science and waste valorisation, aiming to mitigate the environmental impact of the construction and building industry. He gains a profound understanding of cutting-edge techniques and material characterisation regarding rheology, hydration kinetics, microstructure, porosimetry and thermal behaviour of materials. His research looks to enhance the whole life cycle sustainability and engineering properties of low-carbon concrete via the multi-scale approach ranging from nano, micro, meso to macro scale.
He also has published many articles in prestigious journals and serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals such as Construction and Building Materials, the Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
