Mohaimeen Islam

Mohaimeen is a practising Architect and also teaching as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in the Construction and Technologies Division.

His field of interest includes Computational Design, Digital Fabrication & Experimentation through the application of Advanced Technologies and Innovative Material Practices.

He received his Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2012, and completed his masters in Design & Make MArch, from the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London, in 2016. In the AA Design & Make programme, he worked hands-on with digital fabrication technologies, where he collectively designed and made a robotically fabricated WOODCHIP BARN as a thesis project.

After completing his MArch, Mohaimeen worked as an Associate Architect with VOLUMEZERO Ltd., one of the biggest architectural practices in Dhaka, and later served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture of BRAC University, Dhaka till mid-2019.

He was awarded the prestigious Habibur Rahman Scholarship for excellence in design in his undergrad studies, and is now a full member (licensed) of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB).

Mohaimeen remains keen on digital fabrication technologies, to engage in advanced research with engineered timber, for its promise to sustainable Mass Timber Construction (MTC).
