Miyami holds a BSc (Hons) in Facilities Management and a MSc (by Research) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. She is passionate about ensuring safety, comfortability and functionality of the built environment by integrating people, processes, places and technologies together. Her research interests include Facilities Management, building lifecycle, digital technologies (application of Building Information Modelling, Machine learning) to enhance the building performance at its best level.
She commenced her PhD at Monash University, Australia in 2022. She is investigating how to incorporate Facilities Management knowledge into the building design stage to ensure enhanced building performance at the operational stage using BIM and machine learning technologies. In particular, she aims to identify and help eliminate spatial conflicts in building design, by proposing a technology-driven, automated approach for design decision making.
