Hesong Jin

Hesong Jin is a researcher in the field of Civil Engineering at the University of Melbourne. He received Bachelor’s degree (2016) and Master’s degree (2019).

Hesong’s research is about developing ultra-high performance concrete with high level of CO₂ sequestration. It involves:

• Designing an eco-friendly cementitious system
• Selecting materials to develop lightweight aggregates and adding biochar to absorb CO₂
• Manufacturing and testing green ultra-high performance concrete or engineering cementitious composites.

Before starting his PhD , he worked as a research assistant focused on designing low-carbon ECCs, developing eco-friendly LACBAs with adding various waste, and investigating the feasibility of seawater or sea sand into concrete. With interest and expertise in these areas and a motivation for novelty, Hesong is keen on contributing to the sustainable development of construction materials.
