Hafedh Al-Mashgari

Hafedh is currently pursuing a PhD in Structural Engineering at the University of Melbourne. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in 2016, and completed his masters in structural engineering and construction, from University Putra Malaysia, in 2019. 

Driven by a passion for sustainable and innovative construction practices, Hafedh is currently conducting research on Hybrid Timber-FRP Structural Systems. FRP reinforced timber beams have advantages such as increasing the stiffness and decreasing the wood members’ dimension and weight. It means lower grade wood can be used in mass timber production (MTP). This research project aims to address challenges of MTP in Australia by bridging the gap between traditional timber and modern composite materials.
