Gihan Ranasinghe graduated with a B.Sc. Eng (2018) and M.Sc. (2020) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for one and half years and a Civil Engineer for one year before commencing his PhD study at QUT in October 2021.

Gihan’s research investigated the behaviour of light gauge steel framed (LSF) truss floor-ceiling systems under ambient and fire conditions, to develop suitable fire design guidelines that can help predict the fire resistance levels (FRLs) of various arrangements of LSF truss floor-ceiling systems using experimental and numerical studies.

PhD Start and End Dates
Gihan received his PhD in 2025. He is working as a researcher at the Fire and Wind Engineering Lab at the Queensland University of Technology.
