Chris is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Melbourne, focusing upon the structural robustness design of mid-rise cold formed steel buildings. Additionally, Chris works as both a research assistant and academic tutor for the University of Melbourne’s Department of Infrastructure Engineering. Prior to this, he worked as a graduate structural engineer, specializing in the design and assessment of civil structures at Beca, a design consultancy in Melbourne. Whilst working at Beca, he gained technical experience in the design of bridge and gantry structures compliant to both Australian Standards and International Codes. Chris has experience in the use of ABAQUS, MIDAS, SpaceGass and AutoDesk Structural Bridge Design. Outside of this, Chris has a strong interest in machine learning (particularly reinforcement learning), its application to solving today’s problems and its effects on society.
