Abdurrahman Beg
Abdurrahman is a PhD student in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University, Australia. He holds a Master’s of Computer Networks and a Bachelor of Computer Science.
His research interests include Computer Networks, Internet-of-Things, Software-Defined Networking, Optimisation and Machine Learning. Applications of his research are related to smart cities, future networks, Internet-of-Things and security.
His current research involves improving sustainability of future buildings in the context of increased electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Australia. Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) enables EVs to discharge energy back to the grid or premises, which means they can be used as mobile batteries and charged to offset a building’s peak energy demands. This research investigates powering EVs with renewable energy sources during the day and deploying the stored energy at night. This approach could assist in peak-shaving, reduce emissions and minimise costs.
He has published journal articles, conferences, and a patent on these topics. He is a recipient of research funding, grants and scholarships from Monash University and Building 4.0 CRC.
