M80 Ring Road Completion
We’re completing the M80 Ring Road, with 5 new lanes and smart technology from Plenty Road to a new M80 interchange. The Ring Road will seamlessly connect to the new North East Link tunnels and move through-traffic under a new Grimshaw Street interchange. Two landscaped bridges will make it easier for locals to get to the Watsonia station, shops and community spaces.
The Ring Road Completion will take 19,000 cars and trucks off Greensborough Road a day and give local roads back to local people.
The Ring Road Completion will be timed to open around the same time as the North East Link tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen and the Eastern Freeway Upgrades from Hoddle Street to Springvale Road. The M80 Ring Road Completion also follows other major upgrades to the M80 over the past decade, with additional lanes added, new on and off ramps and bridges and a new smart freeway lane management system to better manage traffic flow already delivered from Western Highway to Plenty Road.
